Howie has had a well deserved vacation. We are building a new house so riding had to take a back seat to all things house related. It meant that Howie got a good 2 month vacation with only occasional kisses on the nose or a grooming when I could steal a moment to get to the barn. When I finally was able to get back to a semblance of a riding schedule, I was so very pleased to notice we were able to pick up right where we left off. Both a little out of shape physically, but more in shape mentally. So that started me thinking...Howie really hadn't had any serious time off since I got him 3 years ago. It was time for a break. Oh sure he had occasional little breaks but no real sustained down time. One of the benefits of a beautiful indoor facility is you can ride no matter what the weather or time of day, but you also lose a sense of time that you have when you work outdoors and need to consider the weather. I promised Howie he wouldn't have to wait another 3 years for his next vacation.
