I feel like a contestant in a game show. I've had some serious questions lately, so I have been 'phoning a friend'. I called another friend this morning regarding another issue but had to leave a message with his staff since he wasn't there. I thought he would call me back, but I wasn't sure, it is, after all, breeding season, the busiest time of the year and he manages a farm of over 300 head. Indeed, he did call, and was very gracious in answering my question and providing some good advise, perhaps the pivotal information I needed. Which brought me to this thought: Is it easier to be gracious when you are on top? Or are 'they' on top because that is the type of person they are? We most often put people on pedestals due to their deeds, I would rather assign them a pedestal due to their character. I am grateful for some the 'characters' I have come to know over my many years with horses. They are some of the most giving people I know. I hope I can provide the same for someone else, someday, somewhere, pay it forward.
